Audacity
Audacity is free, open source software for recording and editing sounds. It is available for Mac OS X, Microsoft Windows, GNU/Linux, and other operating systems.
Audacity allows you to dub over existing tracks to make multi-track recordings with no software-imposed limitations on the number of tracks. You can edit your tracks by cutting and pasting, and use a drawing tool to alter individual sample points.
