dont underestimate the power of your home studio pj... with a little imagination... it can do as much as a big rig... track sounds very good btw...
ive a friend here in south australia that records about 30 albums a year... he has a big console for show and uses the smaller home studio type rig console desk for 99 percent of his recording and mixing work.... home studio sound quality... is as good as it gets ;) definitly not basement grunge... this is a pretty neat track pj.... you should be proud of yourself ;)

project_junky has uploaded a new Mix with the title AutoMatic - Final Mix.
File Description:Ok..  I think this one rocks..   I was rocking out in my car with this one :)

Guitar solo back to one track.  Did a couple minor tweaks that maybe only Sharkboy will notice :)

Dumped the double bass..  Blue is rocking the bottom all by himself.

Still blended all guitars to create a wall.   Sharkboy had great low to mid sounds and the other tracks gave a good high end.  I think they work very well together.

I think I got what I was aiming for.  I wanted a sort of muddy "sleeze" Monster Magnet sound with the guitars.   It's thin because it's a basement mix and I'm not a pro but I think I impressed myself so It's better than I thought I could of made it :)

Hope you enjoy.

Ready to publish is you are.

Very helpful advice.  I couldn't get to my music room today but I should have a good enough mix by Sunday or Monday to press the publish button, that is of course if you and Blue like the final mix :  It's always a pleasure to work with you two .

PJ,

It's your creative vision. Take it where your ear feels it needs to go. I usually create a few versions and listen to them in the car on the way to work. I drop them all into a playlist and let it loop. You will clearly have a favorite after a day or so and will probably come up with some ideas on how to improve it also.

You can always update the file after you publish. I have updated some songs a year after I published. As you grow and get better at what you do you will hear new things and want to make changes.

No problem. I'll dump the pan thing.  Nothing's ever set in stone and I want you to be excited about your parts :)

I did play with, and will continue a little more, blending both your guitar and the older guitar track.  Not for any sentimental reasons,  I was trying to build a "wash" or "muddy wall" of guitar sound.  where none of the instruments really "stood out" but worked together to create a swirl of sound.  You hear the music but not really the chords..

Not sure if that makes sense.   One big weakness I have it explaining in text or words what I'm thinking in my head :)

Same concept with the bass in parts.   Some parts I liked the driving bass of the old track and then other parts I dig what Blue was doing but you can't just cut and paste them into one track. (tones are way different)  So I tried them together in order to help add to that wall of muddy sound.

I'll play with it a little more and try and come up with another mix.  At least I know I can adjust your lead.   Do you have a preference for your lead.   Some like to be a little left or a little right.   I can put you where ever you like to be.  Or just tell me you don't have a preference.

I also want to adjust the back vox and a couple things.  I think the guitar wall might be to phat and muddy so taking the older tracks down or out might change that.

I just like to turn knobs and see where it takes me :)

I'm looking forward to coming up with a mix that you and Blue say. WOW to :)

Have a great weekend.

The mix is Ok. Not sure if I like the panning thing on the leads. Everything else sounds fine. You should do a test mix that keeps just Blue's bass and my guitar to see if is comes out a bit cleaner. If you want to keep both parts you should try and keep them so that if you listen in headphones you can clearly hear the 2 distinct parts even if they are playing the same thing.

Other then that it sounds killer. The chorus definitely gets stuck in your head. Caught my self singing it a few times.

project_junky has uploaded a new Mix with the title AutoMatic_Rough for Final.
File Description:Ok.  I have Sharyboy out front with old guitar in the back
Blue and old bass line (double bass) :)
Old Drums
Me on Keys and Vox.

Please give this mix a listen.  I need to rest my ears.   please give feedback.  I can tweak mix.   Should be close to publishing.  That is if you are both happy with what you hear.

SharkBoy.  I used your lead but preferred to do vox on break.

I also split the lead up to sound like two guitar players.  check your left and right speakers :)  Let me know if this is cool with you.

I look forward to fixing what ever you need or publishing if you give the ok and I give another listen in the morning :).

Ohhhhhhh I think this is going to rock Mr. Sharkboy :) Not sure If I'll have a mix tonight but trying. I spent a lot of time trying various presets.. It's sounding nice. I hope you'll like what I'm doing with it :) I keep crashing my computer so I have to reboot things.. grrrrr I'm hoping to get up some sort of mix. As of now, I have the old guitars on mute and you have the stage. not sure If I'll blend the old with yours or not. Still playing.
