I think the issue is that the guitar part is too busy and it clashes with the vocal a bit. Maybe I can simplify the guitar part for the part of the verse with the vocal and keep the busy part for the fill.

I was also thinking of changing the lyrics. I think there are a few spots where the lyric is just bad.

I like the mix, but it seems like the guitar needs forward a tad (during verse), the bass seems too promininent, I think a neat effect for the backing vocal may be a dry type of 'am' radio tone. Don't know why I hear that there, just seems like it would fit, you like the bass dry don't you? I will keep that way in the future for ya, lol
